What Happens When My Dog is at Your Salon?
When you arrive with your pet, if it’s a dog I have never met before, I will spend a short time chatting to you and examining your pets coat, and going through with you what I will be able to do for your pet and what I feel would be the best groom type for you and your pet.
At this point please let me know if your pet has any health issues, so that I can take this into account during the grooming process. We also need to be informed if your dog has ever shown any aggression towards their previous groomer.
You will then be given a time to collect your pet, we do not allow owners to remain with their pet as this tends to upset them, and the majority will not stay still as they are more interested in trying to get to their owner than being groomed, this is extremely dangerous as we are using sharp equipment and require pets to be co-operative.
Please be on time to collect your pet, if your early arriving back please do not approach the salon unless indicated to do so , just in case your pets groom is not quite finished.
Due to the offering of a one-on-one service each pet has its own allocated slot for grooming and we do require owners to arrive on time, if you are late, the time set for your pets groom can not be altered and I will only be able to do what I can in the remaining time, you will lose your appointment for that day if you are over 15 minutes late and any further appointments will be required to be paid for, so as not to encroach on the next appointment.
.
I run a strict NO DE-MAT policy, if your dog is severely matted there is only one option for your pet, and that is for the coat to be clipped short and the coat to then be allowed to grow for the owner to regularly brush the dog at home and attend regular grooming appointments. It is extremely unfair and cruel to demat a severely matted coat, and is now against the law, the animal welfare act states that it is an offense to cause animals pain or discomfort and I reserve the right to refuse to do anything I think may be detrimental to your pets health or welfare .
Your pet will be bathed in a shampoo which is suitable for his or her coat, and conditioned as required.
They will then be transferred to the grooming table where they will be dried by hand and brushed.
The clip/styling is then finished off and any scissoring required done at this stage on a clean dry coat.
To ensure a good and even finish to the coat all dogs will be bathed prior to grooming,
Pets ears that require cleaning and plucking this will be done at this stage, eyes cleaned as required and nails that need to be trimmed will also be done.
A finishing spray will then be used on your pets coat to give him or her a lovely smell that will last a couple of days in most circumstances .
Expect to leave your pet with me for upto 90mintues for a full groom
